A fun way to update your look this fall is to change the color of your hair. By now, your summer tan locks have given way to bleached ends, and all the holiday updos have left your locks limp. A visit to the salon is always an option, but this time why not think of something different? Whether reshaping your bob or trimming the ends of your '70s curly mane, why not go for a touch of copper? Or a hint of blonde Billie Eilish. Do you need inspiration? Here, the experts weigh in on the must-have hair color trends this season.

For natural or bleached blondes looking for an easy twist, consider a shade of copper. "Copper has been going strong for a few years now, long before Lady's Gambit," Alex Brownsell of Bleach London says, "Many celebrities have adopted this shade, including FKA Twigs, Gigi Hadid and Dua Lipa. Jerry Hall even let me change his trademark blonde for a fiery bronze a few months ago."
But not only the famous. Bleach's recently released copper toner and proper copper color have been their biggest releases in years. Rich, warm and earthy, and complementary to all skin tones, copper is the perfect way to transition into fall. Plus, with the Bleach wash option, it's a no-compromise product.
Just when you thought Gigi Hadid had hung up the dye, she debuted a new look at this year's Met Gala: a Jessica Rabbit red. Gigi Hadid's deep, rich auburn at the Met Gala is one extreme of the red gamut and is among the most popular hair colors this fall/winter, a pre-Raphaelite palette that ranges from deepest Titian to berry blonde ".
But how do you get that natural-looking red color without purple or maroon undertones? Jennifer Aniston's colorist, Michael Canalé, has some ideas: "Use a light brown color and add Titian's auburn color to the formula: three parts brown and one part red. Follow the product instructions to mix the color. In the end, use a reddish shimmer to make the red more vibrant.Keep hair color longer - and repair damaged hair from summer - with Canalé's Color System line of products."

When it comes to shades of red, it's not just auburn that's in style this season. Check out Kristen Stewart's strawberry blonde locks, courtesy of colorist Daniel Moon: "Lighter strawberry coppers are a great option," says Moon, "they fade to a beautiful blonde, allowing for a range of hair colors during the period of Strawberry blonde looks newer than ever - I love the contrast of this color against darker clothes."
No one captures the new raw blonde mood better than pop superstar Billie Eilish. It's soft and warm, and more striking than its icy white equivalent.
"We're getting a lot of requests at the salon for Billie's blonde, and I'm noticing a lot of people swapping their usual bleach shades for something more buttery and warm," says Brownsell.
It's not the only one. Moon has been following this trend for a while, too: "I love this shade because it feels like it's from another space and time," she says, "a neutral golden blonde with highlights softens the hair but doesn't require too much pressure. When the light hits There's an incredible golden aura on the hair. The warm color complements the change of seasons and a lingering tan."
If warm, buttery tones aren't for you, consider an alternative to platinum: "I think there will be a return to ash blonde when people start going out," hairstylist Luke Hersheson predicts. "It's going to be more elegant and sexy, a '50s movie star kind of blonde, like Lauren Bacall's."
"I've seen a real demand for hyper-natural color," says master colorist Josh Wood, "seamless color with no visible growth, color invisible to the eye." For those with light hair, that means soft shades of honey and putty, a flash of blonde framing the face, dusting the ends or, as Canelé suggests, micro-shimmers all over the hair, and a wash of honey-toned gloss. .
For darker hair, think sun-kissed ends after summer: "The best color doesn't look like color," says Luke Hersheson, "it's like what a facial does for skin." He thinks of Emma Raducancu's rich, natural mocha-brown locks, with whispers of sun-kissed light. She just remembers to set the color with a good shampoo and conditioner, advises Louise Galvin. She recommends her Sacred Locks line.
Following the DIY dye movement, experts expect to see more bold and individual colors come fall. "People don't want to give up more expressive colors," says Josh Wood. "We've been mixing strands of caramel pink with light blues, and adding bands of peach in the balayage."
Alex Brownsell and Daniel Moon agree: "Chunks of blonde with random pops of color are very popular, and many clients at Bleach LA request this look," says Brownsell. "Hedi Slimane has also championed this look in his Celine menswear shows that she worked on."
But where Brownsell and Wood have played with flecks of color, Moon has been experimenting with bold hues everywhere: "The idea of playing with a single vibrant hue, so you can match your clothes and outfits with a full-tone creative color personalized has been very popular this fall," he says. "I mix multiple colors at once to make sure the color is as unique as my clients." Of course, make sure to replenish the moisture of the hair with a good moisturizing mask.
