In the middle of January, with the sixth wave in full swing and low temperatures prevailing throughout the country, it is difficult to bet on outfits that are far from tones such as black, grey, navy blue or chocolate brown. Despite everything, the new color palette is beginning to appear with shades that will not leave anyone indifferent. These colors have already begun to be seen in the 'outfits' of the most daring, although as the weeks go by, the mix between the winter and spring tones will be more than evident.
Orange will reign in our wardrobe again after its incursion last summer. And just as we are seeing in the first previews of the season, lemon lime green, 'Veri Pery' - Pantone color of 2022 - and the most flattering pink will land to revolutionize our outfits.
2022 is going to be the year of citrus hues. The tangerine orange color will be the protagonist, providing an "extra" shine to the classic orange or tile color that already broke in last summer. There will be two clear aspects when it comes to combining these shades: the most advanced will go for monochromatic looks with details only in gold and the coolest will build outfits full of contrasts, with combinations as crazy as they are flattering and interesting. It should be noted that the mixture of orange and purple is one of the most successful in the 'street style' looks.
In the color range of greens, we will also perceive an evolution towards a more vibrant result. After filling our dressing room with khaki or sage green pieces in 2021, over the next few months, green will continue to invade our looks, although with a much more powerful touch than in past campaigns. This year we will bet on lemon lime green in both garments and accessories. In the remainder of winter, coats and sweaters in this color will be a hit. In spring-summer, satin dresses or jacket suits in light fabrics will triumph among the most daring. For the more discreet -but lovers of this color-, they can contribute it through bags or shoes. The options will be endless.
In the case of pink, and unlike the two previous shades, it will lower its intensity. Last year, fuchsia triumphed in all kinds of garments and accessories, and in 2022 the commitment to bubblegum pink, super flattering among people with dark or golden complexions, will be more than evident. We will see this color in 'total looks', in contrasting prints with colors such as blue or white, or in a more subtle way in 'tweed'.
And we cannot finish without highlighting the color of this 2022 according to the Pantone Institute. The 'Very Peri', defined as "a lively color, which encourages creativity and courageous imaginative expression" is here to stay. With characteristics typical of two mild seasons like spring and summer, the 'trendsetters' will combine it with mustard yellow, although the mixture with purple or mauve tones will also be a more than successful option. A color that will fit in with almost the entire color palette, starting with whites, greys, browns, blacks and navy blues; and continuing through pinks, reds, pastel blues and turquoise tones. And if not, tell Valentino that he already showed his commitment to the 'color block' in the presentation of his 2022 collection. Who gives more?
