It's fun, light and versatile; retro vibe, but also closely associated with the aesthetics of Spanish fashion. The polka dot print is universal and does not escape from any garment or accessory. There is no special time of year that calls for it, but we can make it ours in all of them and, if we know how to wear it intelligently, an elegant look is the least we will get from it.
Polka dots are so noble that no unwritten (or written) fashion rule would prevent us from wearing them, even if you are a petite girl who loves prints. The heart of the matter is how to wear your favorite designs correctly without them taking you, on the contrary, that you take them and with all the self-confidence and style that a striking print deserves.
We took on the task of lighting your way to avoid unnecessary faux-pas with the basics of every wardrobe, one of the best known is how to wear blouses correctly, and it was about time that one of the most dressed-up prints, such as polka dots, also had your guide to mistakes to avoid when wearing this design. If it's one of your favorites you won't want to stop reading.

In terms of prints, not just polka dots, it is very important to take into account our height and our body type to choose the right size of 'polka dots' that we will wear. Large prints can come to 'eat' you visually, taking over your entire figure in a negative way and, as we said previously, making it appear that the print takes you and not the other way around. The recommendation to know which size of mole to choose is comparing it with the size of your fist, if it is of the same dimension or smaller it is the right one for you.
The next point to take into account, to have an error-free look, is to keep in mind your body type and the areas of it that you prefer to highlight and those that you do not. With this in mind, the idea will be to keep the polka dots away from the areas that you prefer to go unnoticed or to choose a more minimal pattern to wear. Bet on wearing this print on your pants or skirts, if your hips are not very wide; and wear it in a smaller size if you wear it in a blouse. Polka dot jumpers can be flashy, but make sure you try them on before you buy because wearing them may stretch the polka dots, or the garment will take on a weird shape that you don't want to show off.
The famous mix & match is an art that not everyone masters, if this is your case, we will not discourage you from trying it, but yes (like everything in life) that you start by taking small steps. In a matter of combining polka dots with other prints, almost everything is allowed, the most important thing to avoid is that there is no genuine coherence between them. The easiest patterns to combine with 'polka dots' are stripes, flowers and animal prints, for more fun and equally flirty looks. A trick to find the union between them will be one or several colors in common that unite them. If you bet on mixing polka dots between polka dots, the recommended maximum will be three different pieces so as not to fall into a disproportionate excess.

If we talk about the polka dot print, the classic combination that we usually opt for is black and white (or vice versa) that looks good on all of us, but it is true that we can find this print in other colors, such as the very popular brown- white or brown-black that was so popular a few summers ago (much like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman). In navy blue-purple, navy blue-white (navy style), coral-white and even yellow-white or with black too. There are many possibilities, but your skin tone will be the best indicator to know which one suits you best. The occasion in which you will wear it will also set the tone. But as a complement to the previous point, if mixing patterns is still not your thing, the simplest thing will be to combine your polka dots with plain clothes that match the tones of the pattern and avoid very vibrant colors that can give you a very aggressive feel and exaggerated to your look.
As Coco Chanel used to say, before leaving home, we should look at ourselves in the mirror one last time and take off an accessory. If you wear polka dot prints much more, especially if the ones you are wearing are very large and thick. When using this print, it is preferable that you wear more subtle and delicate accessories so that they do not enter into an absurd and shocking war with the polka dots.
