In Cerdita, for Sara, summer only means having to endure the continuous teasing of the other girls of her little town.But everything will end when a stranger arrives at the town and kidnap his stalkers.Sara knows more about what she says, and she will have to decide to speak and save the girls, or say nothing to protect the strange man who has saved her.
To tell this story, Carlota Pereda has chosen to present a pig in the form of a Spanish rural thriller in full Sun of the Extremaduran summer, where ice cream, naps, ladies to the fresh and, of course, the fear of what they will say.The film revolves around a fear that arises from real life, because being a teenager can be terrifying, and his main character is someone close to us, not being strange that any spectator knows someone like her and can easily put himself in his place (or at least should be able to have little empathy).
Harassment is any form of psychological, verbal or physical abuse produced among students repeatedly over a certain time, and more and more takes place outside the classroom and focuses on social networks, since times change andstalkers adapt to them.There are few films that have treated both harassment and cyberbullying in young people who are different and do not enter the canons that seem that today's society has decided to determine that they are correct.Cerdita decides to take a twist to this problem and choose to use horror as a means to explore the fear and vulnerability of a teenager tormented by her classmates and neighbors of her people.

Like the theme of harassment, it has been treated differently from what we could have seen in a more purely social film, Carlota Pereda also turns to the Slasher genre and revenge stories.It is true that we have elements of both types of horror movies but prefers to take more realistic premises in this mixture of genres resulting in a great intensity thriller.Intimidation has more weight than explicit violence, although the violent and bloody scenes that will delight fans of the genre will not miss, but not for that reason it moves away from the Slasher, because somewhere the serial killers have to emerge and it isthat nobody was born being a criminal.As we have seen on multiple occasions, a tortuous past and a tormented childhood are good bases to want to kill those who perform evil, but it is usually a necessary but not enough condition for someone to end up being like Dexter.
In case it was not enough, Pereda is also encouraged to include another genre in the film, a genre that great joys has given to the current cinema, and that is that stories about the age of age increasingly receive more praise and win awards.This "coming-of-August" is not the typical that we are accustomed to see, but they have wisely chosen a protagonist with which to give truth to this step of childhood to adolescence, or rather of adolescence to the adolescence totougher maturity.
Laura Galán plasma in images what Pereda had in mind, convincingly interpreting the character so difficult she had in her hands, and carrying on her back all the weight and impact of the film, successfully recreating the emotions of a young woman who ishated despite being a candid soul.
The young actress maintains the guy and, despite her low filmography, a promising future is already predicted in her, and that with her she had renowned actors and with a lot of palmarés that could have made her shadow, like Carmen Machi on paperof his mother, or Julián Valcárcel as the father, both with all the clichés that we can imagine in Spanish parents but not preventing them from being convincing and portrayed naturally.Special mention deserves Irene Ferreiro as Claudia, a "former friend" of Sara who positions himself on the wrong side of harassment, being necessary to highlight from her a scene in which she requires some help and offers us a powerful, devastating and surprisingly credible interpretation.At the head of the casting, Arantza Vélez and Paula Cámara have been, and it is partly thanks to their work that we enjoy such a praiseful result.
The realism and veracity of the interpretations is going to matchreflected in each of the scenes thanks to a palette of luminous colors outdoors, being ténue and off both indoors and in the dark of the field.There is no gender film that boasts that it does not have a dark and impeccable photograph, and Noriega manages to perfectly combine colors of colors that could be used in very different genres, but maintaining a uniformity and exceptional visual coherence.
It is worth highlighting the work of the rest of the technical team, such as Clara Salvador as head of production and locator, Nicolás Mas in Sound, Paloma Lozano in makeup, together with Óscar Sempere in the art direction and Olivier Arson in charge of music, byCite some, and since the last splashes of blood in the clothes to the music that puts us in tension, everything plays in favor of this rural thriller.
Cerdita is a debut that will be remembered for a long time, leaving the bar very high for Carlota Pereda thanks to the remarkable way of presenting us a rabid gender film seasoned with large doses of blood, social criticism and a lot of black humor.
