The metaverse was virtually unknown to almost everyone until Mark Zuckerberg announced the change of his company name to Meta. Since then, virtual spaces have become the talk of many people in recent months and have even reached the world of fashion thanks to well-known brands.
One of the stores that has been launched to create a virtual clothing collection was Zara at the beginning of December. To carry out this collection, Amancio Ortega's firm has collaborated with an urban fashion brand called 'Ader Error'.
What is known to date is that the collection will be distributed through the Zepeto social platform, where users can create their own virtual worlds. Their prices range from 39.95 euros for a hat to 199 euros for a padded coat.
"The designs reflect the lifestyle of people whose personalities are shaped by simultaneous experiences in the real and virtual world," they point out from their website.
H&M has been a company that has also opted for the metaverse. In order to announce his new collection, he created a virtual event which he dubbed 'H&M Innovation Circular Design Story'. In order to see the parade, attendees had to create a digital double.
On the other hand, Nike has a metaverse manager since September of last year: Eric Redmon. This person has been working in the company's technology department since 2015 and has carried out projects such as Nikeland, a digital space that the company has on the Roblox platform.
Through Nikeland, the brand has been one of the first firms to apply to register its brand for digital assets.
Among the luxury brands, there are also companies that have taken a look at the metaverse, as is the case with Gucci. In the same way that Nike has done, the Italian brand designed a space in Roblox where users could buy bags, glasses and other accessories from the brand for affordable prices between 2 and 9 dollars.
Gucci's virtual space was only available for two weeks, however, more than 4.5 million items from the firm were sold.
