Lifelong garments, tailored garments, very straight lines and with a masculine touch that favors a lot. This is Byan, the Spanish fashion brand that is succeeding. Its fabrics and colors make the difference and make its garments become a more special product, transforming a coat or a blazer into a must in any wardrobe.
THE STYLE has spoken with its creator Andrea Moragues, an interior architect who is now committed to her own clothing brand.
How was Byan born?
Born in India. I went to live with my husband for three years and the truth is that the market to buy clothes was very small: either I dressed in a sari or I went to Zara. That's how I started designing my own clothes. I made like three blazers and I remember the first time I wore them to a Thanksgiving we organized and they drew a lot of attention. They even stopped me to ask around the street. That was when I considered creating the brand.
And this is how she has gone from interior architect to creator of a fashion brand...
The beginnings were zero easy. It was a totally unknown sector for me and she just had a child. It was quite complicated, but I invested a lot of time learning about fabrics, model designs, pattern making... All that effort paid off when I started producing and the reception was great.

Although the first collections arose in India, we see that the production has always been in Spain.
Yes, because they are designs of the highest quality and it requires being very, very much on top of the entire production process. In addition, we look for a production that is totally responsible.
Byan has just launched his fourth collection that has broken stock, since most of the garments are sold out, what can we see in it?
It is a collection whose strong point is jackets and coats, which is how I became known. In addition, it is that for me they are two essential pieces in any wardrobe. I can wear jeans and a t-shirt but in the end what always changes my look a little is that coat or that blazer. We also have vests, which is a garment that I discovered as a result of my pregnancy because it was the only way to look a little cute. I didn't close my coat, I didn't close my blazer and I thought of something to make me a little cute. The truth is that they dress you any look. We have also launched a capsule collection of dresses. We will have a little bit of everything.
Where do you find inspiration for your collections?
In lifelong garments with very refined lines. With tuxedo lapel pulling a more masculine wink. We design timeless garments. I go a bit by my instinct because deep down I don't follow any trend. I try to give a special point to that traditional garment.
How much of Andrea is there in the collections?
Well, the truth is that everything. From the design of the model to the fabric, to being the one who answers all my clients on Instagram. The name of the firm itself indicates Byan means made by An, Andrea that is me.
The new collection includes vests.
What woman is Byan addressed to?
To stylish women who are looking for a quality and exclusive product with a very fair price for all the labor behind it.
Are they exclusive models?
Yes. This is linked to the slow fashion movement. We are a personal brand. We do not want a massive brand. What we are looking for is that our clients feel special.
What woman would you be especially excited to dress?
If I'm honest, what makes me most excited is when I suddenly see someone on the street with someone I don't know at all and they're wearing a design from my brand. Although I would also be excited to see Queen Letizia or Carlota Casiraghi with something of mine. I think, in fact, that the style of the coat or the blazer can fit the Queen perfectly. Letizia is opening up to the world all the unknown brands that they are undertaking and that is a great job.
Where would you like to see your brand in a few years?
I would like customers to continue betting on Byan and making me grow.
The blazers have a tuxedo lapel with velvet.
