Hazelight has abandoned the registered trademark "It Takes Two" after a Take-Two claim.
Today we have known that the United States Patent Office received an abandonment notice of the brand from Hazelight at the beginning of the year after a Take Two claim.
A Hazelight representative has told Eurogamer that the study "cannot comment open will" but comment that "they expect it to be resolved."
The company has not denied that they have been forced to leave the brand registered because of this action.Nor have they commented which if this action will have any tangible effect (name changes, ideas for a possible sequel, etc..) or if Take-Two is just protecting his brand.
Eurogamer has contacted Take-Two but has not obtained a response as of the publication of the article.
As we can see in the Virtual Legality video below, Take-Two has started in recent months a wave of registered brand claims against terms such as "Rockstar", "Social Club", "Mafia" or "Civilization".
Among the affected businesses there is a Beijing brand called "Starrocks", the Max Fayne clothing brand or a musical book editorial called "Think Like A Rockstar".A company called "Rockstar Ax Throwing" will try to oppose the claim.
Richard Hoeg, a lawyer from Virtuality, commented that Take-Two is being more aggressive than usual in the sector; He has made 25 claims in the last three months, a figure that most companies take 6 or 7 years to reach.
In relation to the case of IT Takes Two, he considers that it is most likely that since it is a brand with limited use, they will settle for keeping the copyright and will not try to win the registered trademark.
