Nike makes its way to the most innovative all-digital variant. The Oregon sports giant has applied to register its trademark for use on virtual goods in the United States, including footwear and clothing. In this sense, Nike submitted seven different registration proposals for its various brands and logos, which were filed on October 27 and 28, 2021 with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Specifically, this registration is for the purpose of marketing your branded products with categories that include downloadable virtual goods and services related to retail and entertainment.
It should be noted that this measure was taken by Nike after Facebook (now Meta) changed the name of the social network to bet on the metaverse, a universe of virtual interaction that could include the development of technologies never seen before, who have already tried and are trying to develop other groups beyond what is now called Meta.
For this reason, Nike is preparing for the possible and soon expansion, which apparently would mean a revolution in the way we interact.
This is how you will market your products
Fashion United reported on its website that in the specific case of Nike, "the seven trademark registration applications filed by the Beaverton company refer to the registrations of the Nike brand, its "Swoosh", the motto " Just Do It”, of the logo with the Nike name together with its “Swoosh” and of the Jordan and Air Jordan brands and their “Jumpman” logo, to have the possibility of offering digital services”.
All of these registries claim to offer downloadable virtual goods such as computer software, virtual goods retail store service, and entertainment services. These include brand items such as shoes, clothing, hats, glasses, bags, sports backpacks, sports equipment, art, toys and accessories for use online.
