“There was a division between the ones that were most famous and required by designers and the ones that weren't. For this second group, the working conditions were deplorable , ”she assured.
“There are some who had a VIP dressing room because their careers deserved it. But others were cattle , which were locked up for many hours. They arrived at 10 in the morning and left at night. They had no bathroom ,” she revealed.
Gustavo Descalzi, a Uruguayan journalist who witnessed that time, said that due to the lack of bathrooms, the models "used a cut bottle." Matilda Blanco confirmed this information.
However, Soledad Solaro, a great figure on the catwalk of those years, said that she never saw these things. The image consultant slipped her that maybe she was never a witness because she was part of the VIP group.
In addition to the war of egos, the famous nicknames among the models and the absences of the stars in rehearsals, they also had to control that the parade clothes were not stolen. That is why, at the end of the event, they checked the bags of all those who had participated.
Matilda explained why: “The dresses from the first and last runs were missing because everyone wanted to open or close the show . They were the most important passes: the opening and the final photo. Those dresses disappeared.
“The thing about the bags is true, they controlled us all . It had to do with a security issue so that no one accidentally takes anything,” Soledad Solaro confirmed.
Regarding the absence of the great figures in the rehearsals, the stylist dismissed Dolores Barreiro and took her toll: “Unfortunately we had to remove her from a full parade of a very important brand because she was late with her boyfriend ”.
“I have seen many things. I'm not going to tell you that 'what happens backstage, stays backstage' ”, the model began to remember Hernan Drago .
