Before the end of 2021, Colombia will have three days without VAT, as announced by President Iván Duque.
“This will make it possible to liquidate inventories and stimulate consumption. In addition, it can be done virtual and it can be done with cash payment," said the president.
Therefore, these will be the dates, the list of discounted products and the maximum price for the VAT exemption to apply.
The sessions will be held on October 28, November 19 and December 3, with the aim of promoting economic recovery in the country, which suffered great losses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The list of products with discounts for next October 28 may be expanded.
So far, these are the confirmed ones: clothing, household appliances, computers, communications equipment, sports equipment, toys, school supplies, and agricultural goods.
For its part, the Colombian National Merchants Federation (Fenalco) said that sales are expected to increase considerably before the end of the year festivities.
“These dates are very important to boost the economy and recover employment in the country. They are also a great opportunity for Colombians to buy at a lower price at this special time of the year, which is why we believe that everyone should benefit from this significant event”, assured the president of this entity, Jaime Alberto Cabal.
