The boys and girls lost their enthusiasm for the traditional toys that in other times they asked for from the Three Wise Men, now they are captivated by tablets, cell phones, video game programs and everything that advanced technology offers them.
Since the first days of December, the best stores in yesterday's Querétaro such as: Mexico City, Franco Muñoz, Casa Sagaz, Proveedora del Hogar, among others, exhibited the best of the best toys.
In public markets such as Escobedo, La Cruz, Tepetate, and Lomas de Casablanca, Presidentes also offered toys, clothing, sweets, and cookies (aguinaldos) to supply the Magi from the East with limited resources.
The aforementioned stores that disappeared with the passage of time, were crowded with children who went through their windows over and over again to choose the toy that they would ask for from Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar. The most demanded, bicycles, dolls of all kinds, skates, tea sets, mechanics, puzzles, electric trains, clothing, wooden carts, spinning tops, ball bearings, footwear, skateboards.
The letter was ready, they deposited it in a special mailbox that the Post Office conditioned so that it could be sent to its recipients (the Wizards of the East) in a timely manner.
On the night of January 5, before going to bed, the boys and girls left a duplicate of their letter next to the birth and/or Christmas tree in one of their shoes in case the original had not arrived their destiny that was for Baltasar, Melchor and Gaspar.
Next to the shoe, they put a bucket of water and bunches of alfalfa for the elephant, camel and horse that the Magi carried.
Meanwhile the shops and streets were packed with the legendary characters who had left their gift-buying until the last moment.
Since the early hours of the morning, the innocent creatures woke up to see if they had brought what they requested.
On many occasions, it was not possible for Wizards to fulfill their wishes but they complied.
In the afternoon, the skating rink of the Guerrero garden and its surroundings, crowded with boys and girls to enjoy their toys
But this is all over.
As already said, the little ones lost their enthusiasm for those toys and now, they expect tablets, cell phones and video game programs.
The clothes, shoes and sneakers of the best brands will not be missing in the suitcases of the Wizards of the East.
