Apimex president David Novoa Toscano commented on the above, adding that this company, last year produced an average of one million to 2 million pairs of shoes per year, however this estimated production could be 5 years, it would not materialize. in this 2022.
The reason why the amount of production of this footwear would not be achieved is mainly due to the fact that they have to close contracts with factories in León.
The businessman added that from the conflict between China and the United States of America on the issue of freight, opportunities have been obtained for the industry, since there are several brands or manufacturing companies in the leather, footwear, and leather goods industry. that they are more interested in buying in Mexico than in China.
David Novoa Toscano commented that of the little more than 220 affiliates that the Association of Industrial Supplier Companies of Mexico (Apimex) has, they have not managed to correct the problem of production and sales, as was the case in previous years.
Since currently this leather, footwear and leather goods industry has been one of the most affected, and is still below 19 percent of its production and sales.
However, they hope that this year there may be an economic and production recovery for this sector, but there is no certainty.
