Have you ever accidentally stepped on poop and brought it home stuck to the bottom of your shoes? Some say that it brings good luck, but if we ask the residents of the Madrid neighborhood of Las Águilas, their opinion is very different.
We are in the Latina district of the city of Madrid, an area divided into seven neighbourhoods: Puerta del Ángel, Lucero, Los Cármenes, Aluche, Campamento, Cuatro Vientos and Las Águilas.
Las Águilas is the third largest neighborhood in the Latina district and the second in which more people live, being one of the oldest neighborhoods in the capital.
It is precisely in this neighborhood of Las Águilas that the community has gone to try to find a solution to a somewhat eschatological problem. And it is that avoiding excrement while walking down the street has become a common practice for these neighbors.
But that's not all, and that is… Those responsible for some of this waste could be humans!
The problem that these neighbors face are some bags of poop that appear every day on the street "crushed", leaving the entire street dirty and full of bad smells.
María Luisa is one of the affected neighbors. "At first she thought the feces were from a dog, but then they told us they were from a person." Up to seven bags together have come to see this neighbor on the street. A problem that repeats itself day after day.
“Those are some pigs from around here,” says María, another neighbor in the area, pointing to the building next to where these wrapped excrements appear. And not only in plastic bags, but the neighbors say that they have been found in masks, inside condoms or on albal paper.
This building has become the target of all eyes. Its proximity to the problem has raised all the alarms and some neighbors like Isabel have taken action: she always carries an umbrella when she goes under the block, "in case they throw something, which has already fallen on a lady's head" .
For their part, the residents of this block, like Ignacio, assure that this is not true. “The neighbors of the neighborhood point at me. They say that the guilty one lives in my block”. They claim that if they were dropped from such a height, they would be much more spread out than they are.
Neighbors in the area are vigilant day and night to try to find out who is the person who throws plastic bags full of feces into the street. Who will be responsible for this mystery? Why would you dedicate yourself to doing this practice? Where do you launch them from?
There are multiple theories and suspicions on the subject, and each one has their own. From some who affirm that the culprit is a lady who is a little sick in the head and who throws them from the top of the building to others who assure that the person responsible is a boy who comes loaded with a backpack and throws the bags on the ground .
Whether due to psychological problems or personal quarrels between neighbors, the truth is that none of these suspicions have been proven: neither the place they come from nor whether they are human or not. A "brown" that continues day after day without being able to solve it.
